DISASTER:
A disaster is a serious disruption of the functioning of a community or a society involving widespread human, material, economic or environmental losses and impacts, which exceeds the ability of the affected community or society to cope using its own resources.

HAZARD
Hazard is the potentiality of a physical event that may cause loss of
life or property
VULNERABILITIES
Vulnerabilities are the factors or processes - physical, social ,
economic and environmental- which increase the susceptibility of an area or a
community to the impact of hazards
RISK
Risk is defined as the probability of harmful consequences or expected
losses ( deaths, injuries, property, livelihoods, Economic activity disrupted or
environment damaged)
RISK = Hazards X Vulnerability
